As part of Moving New Orleans Bikes, the City is currently building 75-miles of connected, low-stress bikeway networks across Orleans Parish. These Complete Streets improvements create more safety and less stress on our streets for people walking, biking, driving and riding transit.

As construction on protected bike lanes finishes up in Algiers, and is getting started in the Marigny, the Central Business District is up next for Complete Streets improvements, specifically on crucial connectors like Baronne Street and O'Keefe Avenue.

These protected bike lanes and street safety improvements will ensure that people can travel through the Central Business District, all the way to Canal Street, with more safety and less stress.

Between 2014 and 2018, over 800 crashes occurred on Baronne Street and O'Keefe Avenue alone. Many of these crashes, especially the ones involving people walking and biking, are preventable with proper street safety infrastructure.

That's why we need City officials to move forward with planned improvements, such as a protected bike lanes, on Baronne Street and O'Keefe Avenue.
